Description
Welcome to the silo ... Thousands of them have lived underground. They've lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside. Or you'll get what you wish forPage 2 of cover.
My Notes
This was a fun book, and explored some interesting topics. What's required for a society to thrive? Who benefits and suffers from a "functioning" society? Can a lie keep people safe?
These questions were explored via the plot of a closed-off, underground silo (144 floors, to be precise) that is self sufficient. Despite the (literal) depth, the characters were somewhat shallow and predictable, but the pacing and plot made up for it.
While I'm not immediately going to read the next books in the series, I hope to do so one day to continue to discover why they're in the silo, and what exists beyond its walls.
